I’m taking part in Tour de 4 2026, the cycling event launched by Sir Chris Hoy following his Stage 4 cancer diagnosis. It brings together people living with Stage 4 cancer, alongside friends, families and supporters, to ride side by side and raise vital funds.
I'm raising funds for those close to me who have suffered from cancer - of any kind. I'm raising funds to help find a cure. I'm raising funds to hopefully make a better future for others where cancer doesn't get to play a part.
I'm cycling the Blue Route - a 38.1 mile round trip from the Velodrome in the east end of Glasgow, taking in moodiesburn, Twechar, Milton of Campsie, Strathblane, Torrance, Bishopbriggs and back.
I like a cycle - but this will be a particularly long route for a fair weather cyclist like me and there's plenty of opportunities for you to stand at the side of the road and cheer me on, or shout obscenities.
The event is about showing that a diagnosis does not define a person, and highlighting what life with Stage 4 cancer can look like: strength, resilience and determination.
All funds raised will go to charities supporting people affected by Stage 4 cancer. If you’re able to donate or share, I’d be incredibly grateful. Every contribution helps provide vital support and care.
