Do you know Nick Rogers? I highly recommend it. He has a huge personality and even bigger heart! Whether you’ve known Nick for decades or only met him briefly at a bar, chances are Nick considers you a friend. And for those of us lucky enough to count ourselves as one of Nick’s friends you know that Nick is the best kind of friend to have. He will drop what he is doing at a moment's notice if you need him. He looks out for his friends new and old in a way that we should all aspire to. If you know him and you’re reading this I’m sure you’ve already thought of a time when he’s been there for you; to help you move, give you a ride, buy you a beer or just cheer you up. If you don’t know Nick, I hope that someday you can be fortunate enough to meet him. It won’t be long before you know exactly what I mean when I say Nick is the best kind of friend to have.
On April 5th Nick was admitted to the hospital in critical condition for pneumonia where he remains on a respirator. Our friend is fighting hard and showing signs of improvement everyday but his recovery continues to be touch and go. After Nick is done with this part of his fight he will likely require weeks of continued care and therapy. Along with this, he will also be facing a mounting pile of medical bills. Unfortunately, like many others he was laid off due to covid which resulted in him being without health insurance.
We don’t know exactly how much continuing care Nick will require. What do we know? It won’t be cheap and our friend needs our help to get him through this trying time. Anything you can contribute will make a difference and help ease the burden for Nick and his family. I can’t express enough how much this beautiful soul deserves our kindness and friendship. It’s time for us to step up and be like Nick, the best kind of friend, and help him in his time of need!
