Nick Quinn’s Graduation Computer fund
Nick is an amazing human being who happens to be my kid. His accomplishments in these first seventeen years of life are really impressive. Since seventh grade, he has volunteered with a group called Ocean Warriors to teach sixth graders about the environment and conservation. For the past three years he has sat on the board of the Hawaii Wildfire Management Organization, first as a junior board member (a position created especially for him), and currently as a full member. Every spring break since the age of thirteen he has volunteered at a local day camp as a youth leader for younger kids. He has amassed over 1,000 hours of community service. He attended the California Global Youth Peace Summit in 2018 and 2019 and would be attending again this year if not for the outbreak of Covid 19. He has maintained excellent grades all the way through school and taken many AP classes. He is so well rounded, participating in chorus, band, and broadcasting just to name a few. Through everything, he remains a kind and funny young man who is a joy to be around.
Now, all his hard work has paid off with a full scholarship to an amazing school, Vassar College in NewYork. This has been a rough year to be a senior in high school. Every milestone that he saw his older peers receive has been fundamentally altered for him and his entire graduating class. Who knew that they would never return from spring break? Never be recognized for all they have accomplished with a senior banquet or even a graduation ceremony?
I know that many of us are struggling right now, but just in case you are able, I thought I would put this out there into the world and see what happens. We can not afford to buy Nick a good computer to take to college with him. He is currently using a $200 one that I bought three years ago. I feel like he will need something more reliable to get him through his college years. So, if you love Nick and were planning on sending a graduation gift, or if you would just like to contribute to the future accomplishments of a very worthy and promising young man, this would be a good way to help ensure his ability to succeed in the next chapter of his life. Thank you for taking the time to read and share this! May you be safe and secure in these uncertain times.
