Nick needs a liver

Hello everyone, my name is Kathy and I am fundraising for my husband of 25 years, who is also my best friend. Nick was diagnosed with cirrhosis in 2021 and liver cancer in 2022. He has liver failure and we are praying for a living donor. To the people reading this, some of whom we know and others who are just meeting us through this fundraiser, Nick is a good man.

A little background on Nick.. he is a giver. He is always there for friends and family. He loves God and loves to serve with his church family and has served his community by volunteering at the City Church food pantry for the past 20+ years. He is a great husband, father to 3 girls, and grandfather to 6 beautiful grandchildren. He has always been a strong, hard-working, dedicated man and it's been extremely tough on Nick to rely on others for help when he is the one who always wants to help others. Even small tasks are challenging for him right now and it's a struggle, mentally and physically for him.

We are in search of someone between the ages of 18 - 60 willing to donate part of their healthy liver to save the man we love.

A living donor liver transplant is a life-saving operation that allows a healthy volunteer to donate a piece of their healthy liver to help someone in need. The liver is the only organ that can regenerate itself and grow from a small piece back to its full size. That means that a living donor can volunteer to divide their healthy liver and give one piece to someone else in need. After the transplant, both pieces of the donor's liver will grow back to full size in six to eight weeks.

If you do not hear the calling to be a donor, please consider a financial donation to help us cover medical costs such as insurance deductibles, testing, medications, travel expenses for us and the donor, caregiver costs or any unexpected costs that should arise during the process of pre and post-transplantation.

If you are not able to financially donate, then please share share share this message with all you know and together we will find our miracle for Nick. There is power in prayer, so please, prayers are always needed and appreciated.

Anyone considering being a donor and would like further information, please call the Liver Transplant Team at the University of Rochester, NY at [phone redacted]. Let us all work together to save Nick.

Thank you and much love to you all.
