Nick & Matt's Flood Damage

This may be one of the hardest things we've ever written. For those of you who know Nick Warner and Matt Poyma, we rarely ask for help under any circumstance. However, we've recently experienced a terrible turn of events and are asking friends and family to help us get back on our feet. Here is our story…..
Last week, we moved into our new condo and we could not have been more excited. This move had been in the works for two months and our big day was finally here. We spent much of the day moving our belongings from our apartment to our condo and finished the move around 8 pm. After unpacking much of our belongings, it was almost time to call it quits. All that was left was to mount our TV to the wall. That is when things turned for the worst.
While drilling into the “Stud” we hit the horribly placed fire sprinkler line. It’s a 1” thick line packing a whopping 100 PSI and once we punctured it, the water came pouring out by the gallons. We went into to fight or flight mode. First, we called 911 and then attempted to catch as much water as possible using buckets. We also tried to soak up the remaining water with whatever we could find in the house - blankets, towels etc.
The fire department arrived shortly after the leaked was sprung. It took about 35 minutes to get the water line shut off. By the time they left, the damage was obvious. Water was leaking from our second-floor bedroom floor through the ceiling into our living room, kitchen, and laundry room located on the first floor. The leaking continued from our first floor through the stucco on the outside of the condo, and onto the parked cars beneath our condo. Within one hour of the incident, we had a flood restoration team come out and they immediately started cutting drywall, pulling the wall boards, and dissecting our condo. Our hearts dropped. We knew this was not good.
We stayed at a relative's house that night. We could barely sleep. The next day we received the horrible news that our insurance would only cover personal property and none of the damages to the condo.
As of right now, we are liable for up to $15,000 worth of damages even after our gracious landlord agreed to split the cost.
With the recent wildfires and the holiday’s right around the corner, I know the timing could not be any worse. If anyone reading this is in a position to donate this holiday season, please consider our situation. We are essentially homeless until we can raise enough money for repairs.
