Canadian Medal of Bravery Hero Dies in Tragic Accident -- Please donate to help out Nick's family!  No donation is too small!

It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of my nephew Nicholas Levi Lannigan on Tuesday, January 3, 2017.   He was just 27 years old.

Nick died in a tragic car accident and has left behind a wife, Krista Pridgen and their three beautiful little children:  son, John and twin daughters, Willow and Alanna -- all less than 4 years old.

He was such a loving and devoted husband and father, and his family meant everything to him.   This fund has been established to help his wife and children through this very difficult time, and to provide for their future -- a future that Nick would have wanted them to have.

Nick was an amazing and loved young man.  He touched the lives of everyone he came into contact with.  He was a hero not just to his family and friends, but to all of Canada, having been honoured by the Governor General with a bravery medal bestowed upon him and four of his friends when they selflessly risked their lives to rescue a man from a burning building in 2007.

The following is a poem that his father, John, wrote.  It came to John in the night and flowed from Nick through him, and this is the message that he sent to us:

"The voice asks, why do we cry?
We cry for we have lost the dearest of husband, son, father, brother, and friend.

You have not lost me...
I am with the stars walking with cousins, friends and grandparents.

If you need to look at me
bend down and look in my children's eyes!
Willow, Alanna, and John...
you will see me through their eyes.

If you need to feel my embrace, hold them
and you will be holding me.
If you need to talk or pray,
I will hear you.

If you need to hear me
laugh and listen to my children,
and you will hear me

If you want to listen to me sing,
walk in the trees where I used to hunt,
listen to the wind...
that is me singing to you.

I am Nick...
husband, son, father, brother and friend."

Nick was born and raised in PEI and he spends a lot of time in the summers there with his family.

Please find it in your heart to donate to help support his family.  And please share this fund raising campaign with everyone you know.  If each of us contribute just $10,  $20, $100 or more if you can -- you can help to ensure that Nick's legacy can live on in his children.

Thank you.
