Nick Klassen's Pancreas needs your help!
Donation protected
Nick Klassen is a 13 year old who has been suffering with chronic pancreatitis for several years. In amongst typical teenage boy activities of playing countless games, spending time with family & friends, participating in school trips & events and planning for the leap into high school, chronic pancreatitis has thrown a wrench into his plans time and time again. With chronic pancreatitis comes severe stomach pain, nausea, and many days spent at the doctors office or hospitals managing his pain, all while missing lots of activities that other classmates and friends were enjoying.
After years of waiting, Nick is scheduled to have surgery this Fall. It is extensive surgery that involves removing his pancreas, spleen and gallbladder while transplanting islets into his liver. The surgery will take place in Minneapolis, Minnesota. There will be approximately 8 weeks where both Nick and the family will be required to stay in Minnesota for both the invasive surgery and the recovery afterwards.
While the family is extremely thankful the surgery itself is covered, there are lots of expenses associated with living away from their home for an extended period of time and traveling to and from the U.S. Kindly share, and show your support and help the Klassen's as this will be an extremely difficult time for them, any assistance to relieve the financial burden would be appreciated.
For those that know the Klassen's, you know that they're a kind and generous family and would do anything to help others. They'd like to thank you in advance for your contribution, money raised will be going towards expenses as a result of the surgery and if there are any funds remaining once they return to Canada they will be donating to Ronald McDonald House and/or Pancreas Research to help other families.
