Hi, my name is Sarah Jackson, and I am fundraising to help pay for expenses during our parental leave when our son Gabriel, who has been diagnosed with spina bifida, is born. There are still many unknowns right now, and we are praying for a miraculous outcome for Gabriel, but what we do know is that he will require surgery to repair the lesion within the first 72 hours of birth and a NICU stay, as well as a possibility of other surgeries depending on a host of unknown possible complications. Nick and I would prefer for both of us to be able to take parental leave when Gabriel is born, to be with him through surgery and NICU stay as much as possible, as well as to be able for both of us to have time to adjust to our new normal with our sweet boy during his first few months of life at home.
