2020 has been a tough year, but its been especially hard on Nick and Lea.
Nick has been battling an extremely rare liver cancer called Fibrolamellar carcinoma for 9+ years. He has had countless procedures, surgeries and treatments and for the last 2 years his fiance, Lea, has been right by his side.
2020 has brought some unique challenges for them. Nick hasn't been able to work for some time due to the progression of his cancer and Lea lost her job due to Covid. Finding another job has been near impossible for her because of concerns of bringing Covid home to Nick. His immune system just isn't strong enough to fight covid along with the cancer and any exposure could be fatal. They've been surviving on Lea's unemployment and Nick's disability and some savings.
Unfortunately, 3 weeks ago Nick felt very weak and he had to be taken to the hospital. While there they found some issues that needed to be addressed. Before he can come home he needs to complete some physical therapy to be sure he's strong enough.
While the hospital is exactly where he needs to be it's created a financial strain that they hadn't planned for. Due to covid, the hospital does not allow overnight visitors. Each day, Lea drives from Lonsdale to Rochester to get the briefing from his team of doctors and help guide his treatment plans. She also has to pay for parking each day and meals on the go and all the other things that an extended hospital stay causes. They need our help!
Any help that you can give them would be so appreciated. Lea and Nick are both wonderful people and don't need to worry about how they're going to pay their bills on top of everything else they're dealing with! They need to concentrate on getting Nick stronger and home so they can get married and enjoy every second together! Thank you for any donation. Big or small, every little bit helps!
