UPDATE 9/14/20 - You never know what life holds. I used to say, “You’ll never know the good, till you understand the bad”. We certainly didn’t know that our house was going to burn to the ground with nothing to hold on to but each other and our dog. We have been and will always be extremely optimistic people…that will never change, despite what just occurred. That being said, we keep thinking about the loss of all our material possessions that we have held so dear for so long. They were physical manifestations of where we have traveled, what life lessons we have learned and who we are. We are now in this strange limbo of great despair and great appreciation. But in an odd moment of clarity, we can give nothing but thanks. Those ‘things’ were important but they do not define us. The family, friends, and all those who have taken part and shaped our lives are the most important aspect within all this madness and we hope beyond hope that we are trying our best to help you in whatever shape that might take. Even though our house burned down, we have all of you…and that is what really matters. Lastly, we want to send the biggest THANK YOU! to all who have helped us, especially in the last several days, whether it be financial support, clothing donations, or a nice loving text/call. We are feeling so loved and know we are blessed to have this support. All our collective love,
Nick, Sage, and Winston

9/9/20 - On the night of September 8, 2020, Nick Beles & Sage Quayle lost all of their worldly possessions except for their cars, their dog Winnie and the clothes on their backs as wildfire swept up from Ashland through their town of Talent, OR and burnt their house to the ground. Any amount will help them get their lives back together. They can do it because they have faced great hardships in the past. When I last talked to Nick, he quoted the Kipling poem I gave him when he was a little boy: “If you can watch the things you gave your life to, broken, and stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools . . . You’ll be a man my son.”
