Greetings!
If you made it to our page, we're already excited to meet you and to tell our story. My name is Em and the devilishly handsome guy next to me is Nick. (Say hi, Nick!) I'll make our story short, but buckle up! It's a bumpy ride and it involves eggs, a ukulele, and a lot of love.
23 years ago I laid eyes on the best thing since sliced pie. I was in swim class learning how to do the back stroke, as many 5 year olds do, when I saw a boy. Not just any boy. He had extra large blue shorts on, neon green goggles, and he was about 10 pounds soaking wet. It was my my Nick.
A true Adonis.
10 years later Nick and I crossed paths again in youth group. He had an orange mohawk, a ukulele, Harry Potter glasses, and he was 6 feet tall. I didn't recognize him without the soaking wet blue shorts but he was still the apple of my eye.
Nick didn't know it but I had PCOS, and I still do. That means that I can't have babies without help. My eggs just don't like being fertilized without assistance. Stubborn eggs! I asked my doctor for a treatment plan and they told me there was nothing to be done.
I asked my mom for help. She didn't think my condition was real. I spent 13 years alone with my thoughts until I finally called my sopping wet, blue short wearing, orange mohawk, ukulele playing angel.
And we fell in love over night while bowling and skinny dipping in a pond - WAIT that's a different Go Fund Me story.
Nick and I have been together for a long time now and we both wanted kids, a family, and generally just love to give. I saved up every penny I had since I was 15 years old and together we were able to find a specialist who helped us make 5 embryos after 3 failed IUIs, 2 rounds of IVF, and 2 failed embryo transfers. Hooray for reproductive endocrinologists! Try saying that 5 times fast.
Our embryos are now on ice and we'd love nothing more than to transfer one so we can start that family we so long for.
We would love to have the funds to start our family by the end of summer
and unfortunately the lab will not keep our embryos frozen forever. It would be our honor and we would forever be grateful for whatever donations made.
Anything helps, and we would do cartwheels for $10, $5, or even $1. We know what kind of big hearted people it takes to give lovingly to strangers.
In fact, I think if you donate, you would almost have as big of a heart as the boy in the blue shorts.
Yours truly,
Em, the boy in the blue swim shorts, and 5 very chilly embryos
