Nick Allen's Recovery

Donation protected
Nick Allen’s friends, along with Michael and Lorna Allen are organizing this fundraiser for Nick. Michael and Lorna are acting as the beneficiaries on behalf of Nick, as he is currently still incapacitated.

*Please see the updates page for current news on Nicky's condition and the GoFundMe*

On November 7th, our beloved friend and brother Nick Allen was involved in a serious motor vehicle accident in Bali, Indonesia. He was knocked unconscious and sustained severe injuries to his head and extremities. Nick was rushed to a nearby hospital.

We are crowdfunding to help Nick and his family pay for all the expenses incurred after this accident. These are almost entirely medical bills. Due to the system Nick has found himself in, he has very minimal coverage and everything will need to be paid for out of pocket. These current fees include: doctor, surgeon and specialist consultations, surgery and treatment fees, basic medical supplies, daily hospital bed and room fees, nurse and daily care fees, and miscellaneous hospital fees. Once Nick begins his recovery and is healthy enough to travel back home, there will be more expenses in the way of: safe and reliable medical transport and rehabilitation services, all dependent on Nick’s condition. These could include: physiotherapy, TBI rehab, and possible extensive care needs.

We aim to raise $550,000 to support Nick’s recovery from this terrible accident. Raised funds will be transferred directly to Nick’s family who will decide where to best allocate them based on current expenses incurred. Any amount helps and is greatly appreciated. If you are unable to contribute, we ask that you please share this crowdfunding page in an effort to spread the word to anyone that wants to help.

Doctors identified that Nick had suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI) and severe damage to his shoulder and forearm. All would require surgery. At this point, Nick’s family and a handful of his close friends were made aware of the situation. We were sending every ounce of healing and loving energy his way.

The surgery went as well as we could have hoped but there is still a great deal of uncertainty. Only time will tell. Nick is currently being woken from a medically induced coma. This is a slow process, but he continues to show small but important improvements. Once he wakes up it will be all about monitoring his TBI and the progression of his healing. This page will be updated as Nick progresses.

Nick Allen is a staple in the BC and Canada rugby community. Nick started his rugby career with the Capilano Rugby Club and Mulgrave School before heading to the University of British Columbia, where he would complete his undergrad in economics. He also helped lead the Birds to three BC Premier League championships during his five years of playing. After completing his undergrad, Nick obtained his law degree at UBC’s Allard School of Law, while playing for the Canadian National Sevens squad. No challenge is too big for Nick.

Nick is one-of-a-kind. He is one of the kindest, most caring, and strongest people we know. He has an infectious energy and laugh that radiates to everyone around him. Nick is someone who will always have your back in a tough situation. NICK NEEDS OUR HELP NOW!

Nicky, we love you. We will be with you every step of the way. You’ve got this.

We will post daily updates on this fundraising page regarding the progression of Nick's recovery.
