I was in Germany with my Mother visiting Family when I got the call. My one and only lovely sister Nicia (Mahle) Martin was rushed to Emory University for Open Heart Surgery. A malignant tumor on her heart was removed Thanksgiving 2014. I could write a book about my thoughts and emotions from 4,500 miles away in Germany enjoying my visit with my Mother who is battling Dementia/Alzheimers ...
My sister Nicia??? Surely not ...
INTIMAL SARCOMA:
A rare tumor that is usually diagnosed during surgery or autopsy. Such tumors are characterized by local growth. Diagnosis is difficult and often delayed owing to the nonspecific nature of the symptoms.
I will not write a book here. I will post over time what has transpired as appropriate.
Nicia has undergone (I've lost track) but perhaps 5 MAJOR surgeries to remove tumors including Open Heart, Intestinal Surgery, Brain Surgery among many, many other procedures, etc, etc ....
NICIA IS A FIGHTER !!!!! .... ANYONE who REALLY knows my Sister knows that she is a Diamond. A REAL Fighter! ... She is Focused. Realistic. Quick. Really quick-witted. A Giver. SWEET. Funny as hell. Nice. Honest. Fun. Beautiful. Unique. Honorable. Hard-HARD Working. Amazing. A Hospice Nurse - An Angel.
MY GOAL
I want to be clear here that we are not begging for money or handouts. Through this journey MANY friends, family and neighbors WANT to help but cannot. The truth is - Nicia was a hospice nurse and has since been forced to cease work due to the seriousness of this cancer. Scott her husband, kids and family are all fighting together for Nicia and I wanted to offer a platform here for other friends and family to join the fight as well.

PLEASE understand that if you can and want to give dollars then do so. If you CANNOT .... my goal here was to inform you of Nicia's condition so you can Pray for healing for my Sister who I think is truly, TRULY and ANGEL sent from God.
