My name is Nicholas Hudson and this is a little about my backstory. In 2019, I found a lump and went to an oncologist to get checked out because I suspected it might be cancer. They confirmed that it was testicular cancer and that I needed to have it removed ASAP. But I had no medical coverage, and my job did not offer insurance. I couldn’t afford the procedure that I needed. I looked into private insurance options, and for me to get coverage, it would be $1800 a month with my pre-existing condition. This was undoable for me as I had just gotten into my house and now had a mortgage to maintain. I left the job I was at to work with a place that had insurance deducted from my checks; however, I needed to work there for three months to use the insurance. I worked my 90 days and was now approved for the insurance. I paid the co-pay and went to my doctor's visits and had everything set up for my procedure on May 12, 2020. The day before I was supposed to go down and have my procedure, I received a phone call from the insurance company notifying me that I had no surgical coverage and they would not be covering my procedure. I lost a lot of hope and had no idea what I was going to do at the time. I was already in physical pain because my tumor had grown to be three times the size. I was not able to maintain my job with the physical condition, so I left and tried to go on state insurance. I was denied state insurance because on paper, it still said I made too much money to qualify. I had no idea what I was going to do. I also tried to get approved for CareCredit and had no luck.
In the time it took for me to try to get approved for insurance, the cancer spread to my lung, liver, and one of my kidneys. My oncologist had me admit myself to the ER and told me they have to take care of me because of my current condition. This is what I did, and they performed the orchiectomy and removed my right testicular mass. At last, I had some relief but was also informed the other tumors I had were growing at a slow rate and needed to keep an eye on them. The one in my lung, being the main concern as it was the largest of the three, was the main problem. Fast-forward one year, I was at work and started coughing up blood. I admitted myself to the hospital and told them of my existing condition. They started me on chemotherapy. They were able to shrink the tumor down a substantial amount to where it was not affecting my airway and was not causing me to bleed. I had been to two follow-up visits six months apart where they informed me that I was fine and the tumors were benign. Fast forward to February 11, 2025, I had a really sharp pain coming from the center of my back and chest. I also had been wheezing for a few days prior to this. I admitted myself to the emergency room once again and found out the tumor in my chest had grown substantially. As you can see in the pictures above, I also had blood in the lower portion of my lung. Since February 11, they have removed the blood-filled fluid from the lower portion of my right lung, and in total, they have removed 2.8 L of fluid, as you can see in the video I have posted. This, however, did relieve some pressure from my chest. Today is February 16, 2025, and I will be going in for a biopsy tomorrow, February 17, 2025. This will confirm what kind of chemo treatment they will be giving me this time. Over the next several months, I will be going under extensive care from the hospital and have no idea how I’m going to maintain the bills and expenses that I have. I didn’t really want to make a GoFundMe, but everyone is telling me that it is not such a bad thing to ask for help when you're really in need. I was going to resort to selling my cars before making a GoFundMe account. If you made it this far in my story, thank you so much for taking the time to read.
