Nicholas Owen Kidney Fundraiser
Donation protected
We are raising money to assist in the cost of a kidney transplant between Melissa and Nick. The transplant experience will be VERY expensive including the cost of the transplant, the travel expenses, food & many other cost. We appreciate all the help we receive.
A little backstory April of 2016 Nick was diagnosed with CKD or chronic kidney disease, it is commonly called kidney failure. Much like cancer this disease has 5 stages increasing in severity from 1-5. When they diagnosed his he was in stage 3. A couple years went by and he reached stage 4 in early 2018. Stage 4 meaning he still had between 35%-20% (there’s a reason I’m putting them highest to lowest. And he testers there for another six months or so when things went a bit crazy. Once Nick hit 20% kidney function his numbers free fell. And almost overnight he went from 20% function to 3%. This is stage 5 kidney failure or what they call end stage renal disease (ESRD) and this is where you hear a lot about dialysis and transplant.
Due to issues beyond his control Nick has numerous hospital bills and other expenses associated with dialysis and transplant. We are fundraising for him because of all the expenses that go along with that, travel, places to stay when he’s going in for doctors visits far away, costs of medicines associated with the transplant, food (hospital cafeteria food is expensive ) and the list goes on.
We really hope you can find it in your hearts to help out and wish all of you the best.
