Hi my name is Teresa (Teri) Mirabella. My nephew, Nicholas Pitoniak, was in a tragic motorcycle accident June 21, 2025. Doing the thing he loved the most, riding his bike. A 20minute motorcycle ride changed his whole life. My family thanks God for the good Samaritan who witnessed this accident and applied a tourniquet to his torn artery in his right thigh to stop him from bleeding out. This man saved his life. If it wasn’t for him, Nick would not have made it to the hospital alive. The doctors are amazed he is alive after the injuries has sustained. He crushed his entire pelvis and hips, and his knee is blown off, totally detached. It is unclear at this point if he will be able to keep his right leg, or even be able to walk again. Amputation has been discussed. He just can’t . It would be physically and mentally unbearable for Nick. He will need extensive surgeries. He has temporary pins and posts until the next surgery which is this Friday, July 11.
Nick just turned 28 in May, and had so many plans for the future. He has always been an avid outdoorsman. He loves quad riding in the forest, deer hunting every fall, and fishing, even in the winter, ice fishing. He recently became his dad’s partner in Bass tournaments this year, in fact, they came in 4th place at the tournament on Congamond Lake the day of his accident. Nick became a member of a very prestigious sportsman club this year. The Lake George sportsman club. He helps raise trout and makes deliveries to other sportsman clubs. They grow fish there! Nick loves riding motorcycles. He had his first dirt bike a JR50 at 4 years old. He raced and won top slots in many motocross championships in his teenage years. He also worked at Blandford ski club clearing trails and got free season passes for snowboarding! Nick was not a video game, Xbox, Gameboy kid. He was always outside.
Nick is valued employee at his job as an electrician at Industrial Tech Services, he is well liked and helps train younger people getting into the electrical trade. He is in the midst of achieving his Masters electrician license, and trying to finish the testing from his hospital bed. He has hope. Nick has always been ambitious and has always strived to do the best in every aspect of his life. Don’t ever say he can’t, cause he will. He is already talking about deer hunting in November with his dad. He has hope.
Nick requires many surgeries to rebuild his body which are beyond his financial means.
He isn’t able to resume his current occupation. It will be a long recovery involving rehabilitation facilities. When he is able to come home, he will need it to be wheelchair accessible.
Nick is up for the biggest challenge of his life, being able to walk again. We pray God blesses all the Doctors, surgeons, nurses, and all people in his life to guide them to accomplish this miracle.
If you’re are able to donate, your help , no matter how small will mean the world to Nick’s family.
Nick is being confronted with many physical, mental and financial obstacles. We are hoping to alleviate some of the financial burden to help allow him to heal without stress.
Here is how your support will help:
*cover doctor consultations
*cover surgical bills
*cover rehabilitation, physical therapy costs
*cover construction costs to make home wheelchair accessible, ramps/bathroom
*provide peace of mind so he can focus on healing
Thank you for reading, and anyway you can help, whether a donation, keeping Nick in your thoughts and prayers, or sharing this fundraiser with other people will be appreciated. HOPE GROWS when we come together in kindness and compassion.
