This scholarship was established in 2018 in loving memory of Nicholas M. Corcoran. It is awarded to one student each year who has a passion for hard work and a genuine interest in pursuing a career as an electrician like Nicholas.
Nicholas showed a strong desire to work at a very young age. As a junior in high school, he attended the BOCES Applied Electrical Technology program and found his true passion. Nicholas graduated from Auburn High School in 2014 and then completed the Electrical Construction and Maintenance Electrician program at the State University of New York at Alfred in 2016. Nicholas began working after graduation and in just a short time on the job he developed into a skilled apprentice and became well respected among his peers and supervisors.
This scholarship will be awarded to a graduating high school senior who is accepted and enrolled in a post-secondary program leading to a career as an electrician. The award will be designated for the purchase of the student's tools.
These programs are typically completed in two years, and each year the student is required to purchase their own set of tools. Our hope is to make this scholarship sustainable for the long-term, with the ultimate goal of choosing one student each year who will have their tools covered for the entirety of their program. Your donation will help us establish a strong foundation to continue helping students for years to come.
