We come together to honor the memory of Nicholas Colby Gressley, known as Nick, who unexpectedly departed on September 28, 2023, at the age of 39.

Nick's Journey

Born on April 4, 1984, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Nick's life was defined by his love for simplicity and rural living. He possessed a multitude of talents and diverse interests. Nick found delight in life's simple pleasures, such as mushroom hunting and tending to his garden. He had a remarkable talent for restoring cast iron items and an unparalleled passion for knives, collecting, honing, and caring for his tools of the trade.

He took immense pleasure in satirical current events, with a fondness for John Oliver. Nick had unwavering support for the Chicago Bears.

In his final months, he immersed himself in the world of coin collecting, meticulously examining coins for unique details and rare mints. Nick was a perpetual learner, absorbing knowledge through podcasts covering an array of topics, from history and cooking to music and beyond.

Family and Legacy

As a beloved uncle, Nick shared his wisdom on magic, knot tying, puzzles, vintage video games, Marvel comics, and the expansive universe of Star Wars. He found contentment in the countryside alongside his girlfriend, Lindsay Burk, and their beloved feline companion, Schrödinger.

Nick is survived by his mother, Carol Powell-Martinez, stepfather Juan Martinez, siblings Ashlee Gressley, Rosie Martinez, Johnny Martinez, and Jesse (Ehiliana) Martinez. He was preceded in death by his father, Dwayne (Dewey) E. Gressley.

A celebration of Nicholas Colby Gressley's life will be held on Friday, October 6th, 2023, from 5-7 pm at The 6 on James, located at 4080 N 300 W, Angola, Indiana.
