Please help lay Nicholas to rest

On January 8, 2023, our world was turned upside down. Our 16-year son, Nicholas Aldaz, was involved in a shooting where he was shot in the head and was airlifted to CRMC where he remains in critical condition and on life support. To date, he is unresponsive and his "medical" prognosis does not appear to be favorable. The doctors have declared him brain dead and there isn't anything more they can medically do. However, we all stand firm that God's work over a medical prognosis takes precedence. We maintain hope that God will work a miracle over my son.

In the meantime, our family will face many financial difficulties. My husband and I remain 24/7 with our son and have not returned to work. Without any steady income coming in, any expenses such as food and transportation (our family vehicle has not been returned as it is still under investigation), and any other expenditures have caused us to experience a financial hardship. Our household bills will continue to accrue in the meantime. This is something we do not want to stress over. Our priority is our son. Unfortunately, we must begin to prepare, in the event that God heals him in heaven.

Nicholas is a vibrant, sweet and loving young man with a heart of gold. His infectious smile and laugh we can no longer hear. In place of that is the sound of machines keeping him alive. This was a senseless tragedy and the realization is this could be anyone's child.
