Greetings to you.
My name is Nicolette, my son and I recently relocated to Georgia so that I could begin my career as a freight broker. Finding a place to live was difficult but I was lucky enough to find a place here in Henry County. Moving and settling in was super easy. Darriyn, my self and our dog Poopee were happy.
On Sunday September 26th around midnight things took a turn for the worse. Our landlord (that also lives in the home) began to play his music REALLY loud. This was unusual behavior from him so I didn’t mention anything hoping he’d turn in down or close his door soon. After about an hour, Darriyn began to toss and turn so I walked down the hall, stuck my head in the doorway and asked if I could close the door. He turn his head and yelled “F**k you! This is MY house! If you don’t like it, leave!” I went back to the room, grabbed my phone and walked back down the hall to his room, began recording and asked if he would rather turn the music down or close the door. He turned the music louder and yelled “This is my house, I do whatever I want”. I went back to my room and waited another hour before calling the authorities. [It is now Friday October 1st and I still deeply regret making that call].
The authorities came and went stating that because he owns the home and neighbors didn’t call there was nothing they could do. As soon as they left (around 3am) he came up to me while I was in the kitchen and said “You really f*****d up now! You’re a snake and not to be trusted”. From that moment on he blasted music, began to smoke cigarettes all over the house, disconnected the utilities, unplugged the refrigerator, stove and microwave, took our bathroom door off the hinges, threaten me, made a false police report stating that I damaged and stole his personal property, locked me out and called the police 9 more times to have me removed from the home.
On the evening of Tuesday the 28th he started walking around the house with an aluminum baseball bat. He was pacing and making idle comments that made me feel VERY uncomfortable. At that point, I called a friend to assist me with removing our belongings. When my friend arrived, I stepped outside to load his vehicle as I had already been moving my things outside. We came back to a locked front door, when I opened it there my landlord was with the bat saying “he can’t come into my house”. My friend stayed outside while I brought more things down. I recorded our room and bathroom on the way out and immediately went to a hotel.
I am currently in the hotel and as most know, it’s very expensive. I had already paid my rent for October and can’t afford to stay here another week. I had to surrender our dog due to the hotel pet fee. My son is devastated and couldn’t stop crying when I told him. Due to his lack of sleep from Sunday night, he dozed off in class and hit his head on the desk. He was dismissed from school for 3 days.
I am asking for assistance with moving costs and legal fees. I have found an apartment that will be ready in a few days. Also, there is a lawyer willing to take my case for illegal eviction after the retention fee is paid. I’m in a dark space and can’t find a way out.
Please help us.
