The Nicaragua Dispatch has become an important and referential soapbox for folks to say their bit about the country they live in, visit and love. It’s a place where people can meet, state their business, express their opinions and disagree openly. It’s a place where people connect, exchange ideas, vent their frustrations, act the fool, celebrate achievements, and throw shade.
This site costs money to maintain. We’ve been lucky to have a few kindly, generous and handsome advertisers, but we don’t cover our costs.
The good news is that you, Tender-Hearted and Loyal Reader/Writer, remain a committed bunch. We still average more than 30,000 readers per month, and recently had our best month ever (107K readers!). No one else pulls that kind of traffic in English.
Joking aside, what I’ve come to realize, appreciate and admire about this project is that together we’ve made Nicaragua Dispatch much bigger than it is. We punch way above our weight. The world knows about us. And that’s something we can all be proud of.
Help us stay in the ring in 2015. Our fundraising goal is $6,000 —that’s money that will allow us to crank the site back up to full speed, reactive the #nicadispatch Instagram pull, introduce a couple cool interactives I have planned, and keep the communication flowing.
