New National Infrastructure Bank Advertising Campaign Amidst Deepening Economic Crisis
The Coalition for a National Infrastructure Bank (NIB) is launching a new advertising campaign. We are planning an ad buy this week in Capitol Hill based publications which reach into the inner sanctum of DC policy making. Among the buys will be “Dem List”, a newsletter which reaches Congress, party officials, the labor movement, news media and other DC power brokers. The time is ripe to put the National Infrastructure Bank on the agenda of those holding power.
This new effort follows a two-week publicity campaign in Delaware, home of President Biden. The Coalition ran non-stop ads in the Wilmington News-Journal, the paper of record in Delaware, which reached hundreds of thousands of readers. We need your help now to escalate the campaign.
Our timing is spot-on. Economic storm clouds are gathering fast. Gross Domestic Product fell a whopping 1.4% in the first quarter of this year. Inflation surged to a 6.6% annual rate, and the Federal Reserve began to raise interest rates. These factors sent stock markets into a fall. In April the Nasdaq Composite Index had its largest monthly drop since the crisis of 2008. The S&P 500 saw its biggest decline since WWII! Predictions of a new recession are circulating faster than sightings of Elon Musk.
Congress must create the $5 Trillion National Infrastructure Bank. The NIB will galvanize a recovery in infrastructure and industry. This will stabilize the banking system and lower inflation. Support for the NIB has been growing. The New Jersey Assembly passed a resolution of endorsement, as have a myriad of state and local political organizations. Coalition representatives just addressed the Legislative Black Caucus of South Carolina, the state convention of Indivisible New Mexico, and others. At the same time, we are briefing members of Congress, their senior staff, and elected officials across the nation.
Our new ad campaign will reach thousands of policy makers in DC, the Congress and every state in the nation. The idea of a $5 trillion National Infrastructure Bank will permeate the inner circle of the President. Our goal is to raise $2500. Please give generously. Your life, your family’s future, and our country’s well-being are at stake.
