Tess, 8 weeks after being in the hospital for more then three months and going on a vent. She's a fighter.
This story is about a little girl born 16 weeks early. 1 lb & 6oz. Tess under went two surgeries and indured several blood transfusions before coming home. She was in the hospital 98 days. When Tess came home she weighed 5lbs & 5oz with monitors hooked up to her. Tess has a rare brain disorder called Bilateral perisylvian polymicrogyria. It causes paralysis of muscles on both sides of the face, tongue, jaws, and throat, difficulties in speaking, chewing, and swallowing. It has caused Tess to have g-tube placement for food, she has seizures, cerebral palsey and other health issues. Tess takes many meds to control most of her seizures.
In two years Tess has spent more than 60 weeks in the hospital. March of 2014 she had a tracheostomy and was put on a vent. After spending 10 weeks in the hospital she got to come home on a vent.
Tess still continues to have respitory failure and spends time at the hosptial.
Tess is trying to raise awareness of this horrible dissorder. The year she was born (2005) only 40 children were known to have it. There is still no full medical code and we are trying to help bring awareness to the medical field for this reason. It would be benificial to help other families and children. The life expectancy of these children are only to their early teens.
Aug. 12 there is a benefit to help bring awareness. With your help we can make the repairs to the handicap van that are needed and help with medical expenses that aren't covered by insurance. It will also help with our campaing. Independant pro wrestlers will intertain you while you help bring awareness. It will be at the Jerseyville American Legion in Jerseyville IL. Tickets are $10, kids 5&under are free. There will be food, vendors, music, t-shirtsand more. You can make a differance. Your donation will go to helping Tess. Thank you.
