Kidney Transplant Expenses

Hello!! I'm Krystal Parrish, and I'm deeply grateful that you're taking the time to read my story. I'm nearly 41 years old and reside in Moultrie, GA. About 12 years ago, I was diagnosed with lupus, which initially manifested as joint pain and extreme fatigue. After consulting with my family physician, I was referred to a rheumatologist in Valdosta, GA, where extensive tests confirmed my diagnosis.

For the first few years following my diagnosis, I didn't encounter significant issues. However, around the third year, while working at CRMC in Moultrie, GA, I woke up one morning barely able to move and incredibly fatigued. Despite my condition, I went to work but eventually had to seek medical help. Despite my pleas, my rheumatologist couldn't admit me to the hospital due to my lack of health insurance and outstanding balance. Eventually, I ended up in the local ER, where I was immediately admitted due to dangerously high blood levels and impending kidney failure.

I was subsequently transferred to Archbold in Thomasville, GA, where I underwent emergency surgery to receive a dialysis catheter. Following a three-week hospitalization, my life changed dramatically. I now require dialysis three times a week, sometimes even daily. Living with End-Stage Renal Disease has been a tumultuous journey marked by ups and downs. I've endured a heart attack, multiple hip replacements, and numerous surgeries, impacting my mobility and energy levels significantly.

Despite the challenges, I've been blessed by God's grace to continue living and cherishing moments with my children. Recently, I've been accepted onto the kidney transplant list at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL. This opportunity holds immense importance for me, as it promises a chance to reclaim a semblance of normalcy in my life. No longer tied to dialysis, I can envision a future where I can work and enjoy everyday activities without constant fatigue and physical limitations.
