Hello. I am here asking for help, which is very difficult for me. I am a 19 year old sophomore theater and performance major at SUNY Purchase college. My excelsior scholarship got decertified because I am one credit short (I have 29, I need 30 to qualify) and now I need to pay a little over $9,000 out of pocket by next week in order to register for my spring semester. I work part time at Starbucks to help pay for my schooling, as my mom is a single mother with two other school-aged children at home. My father I have no contact with; he only pays what he legally has to (60%) and it’s with lots of difficulty. There is not much else for me to do with so little time and so much stress. I am happy for the first time in my life at college and I don’t want to lose the life that I’ve built. Purchase is a safe place for me and I have worked so hard to be here. I love performing and I came here to do just that, yet I gained so much more from being here. To not return for almost a year is heartbreaking and it is a reality that is very quickly coming into fruition. I really need a miracle. Any cent helps. Thank you :)
