My Story
Hi, my name is Mia, I am 17 years old, and I need your help. I am originally from Newark, but I have always bounced from city to city with my family, struggling with poverty and an abusive household my entire life. Recently, however, things have gotten worse. Both my mom and dad abuse me. Along with that, I’ve struggled with depression for over 8 years and sometimes I am on the verge of giving up. I desperately want a better life for myself; I’m trying to overcome my mental health issues, but living in a toxic household only makes my depression grow stronger. I have tried to run away before, however, I am underage and my parents have threatened to call the cops on me/have me arrested if I try to run away again using my car because it is under my dad’s name. Fortunately, I am turning 18 on October 25th, 2020, and I want to move out by that time. Although I work nearly everyday on top of going to school, I still don’t have enough money saved up for a car and an apartment. All I need is at least $4,000 to buy a reliable car in full (along with maintenance/insurance) and at least $4,000 for about 6 months of rent (I plan on having a roommate) so I can pick myself back up. I am also looking into additional resources that are intended to help people like me. If anyone is seeing this, it would change my life if you donated even a dollar to this go fund me and/or shared it with as many people as you possibly can. I aspire to be a professional dancer/choreographer and I plan on majoring in criminal justice and forensic science to help others.
