I am raising funds to build a water well in honor of my beloved mother, who is currently in critical condition with stage 4 metastatic HER2-positive breast cancer. The cancer has spread throughout her body, including her brain, and doctors have told us that it is now only a matter of time before she returns to her Creator. Throughout her life, my mother has been a devoted teacher of the Qur’an and has tirelessly raised funds to support orphans in Zanzibar—quietly and consistently dedicating herself to causes that reflect her deep faith and compassion. In Islam, building a water well is one of the most meaningful forms of ṣadaqah jāriyah—a continuous charity that brings reward long after a person has passed. This well will not only provide clean water to a community in need, but, in shā’ Allāh, it will also carry on her legacy and contribute to her good deeds in the Hereafter.
