Support Tim Rock's Life-saving Heart Surgery

I'm Richard Rock and my brother, Tim Rock, just had some unexpected bad health news. He has a lesion on one of the veins feeding his heart and it is heavily restricting blood flow. He is headed to USC Keck Medical Center in Los Angeles Monday, August 26, for an open-heart procedure that week that cannot be performed on Guam.

Most of you know Tim as the ocean photojournalist who has been based in Guam for over 40 years. He is known for his amazing underwater photographic work and the many books he has published about diving and Indo-Pacific travel over the years. In the last two decades many of you have gone on trips with Tim, Simon Pridmore and Sofie Hostyn. He has been Simon's writing, photography, and diving buddy for many years.

This has been a rather sudden development and he and a family member need to fly to Los Angeles and stay near USC Keck for nearly a month for the procedure and recovery period. This is a sudden and costly expense for his Guam family so we're asking for you help in aiding him to offset these and other medical costs and give him some peace of mind. Tim is a "young" 74 and has many more years of ocean exploration in him. We hope he will have a successful and speedy recovery and be out there again bringing the beauty of the ocean to the people of Guam and the world very soon.
