Our dear friend Nhan has experienced a life-changing traumatic event, and we are asking for prayers along with donations to lessen the financial burdens of a month-long hospitalization and indefinite long-term care.
After seeking treatment for kidney failure and going through dialysis the last 2 years, Nhan thought he was on the road to recovery. That sense of relief quickly vanished when he was admitted to Medical City in early June only to discover that he had a rare condition known as Aortic Dissection, Type A. This is a very uncommon, severe condition in which the inner layer of the aorta, the large blood vessel branching off the heart, tears. This was most likely due to high blood pressure.
After coming out of a 12-hour surgery, Nhan’s doctors confirmed that this was the most complex procedure they had ever performed and it was nothing short of a miracle that kept Nhan’s heart beating and helped him survive the operation. Nhan was in critical condition for well over a month while the doctors adjusted his medication and the family braved their way through daily consent calls allowing doctors to give Nhan the care that was needed while being sedated and unable to communicate.
Unfortunately, some of the medications adversely effected Nhan which caused him to lose the fingers on his left hand. We are praying and waiting to hear about the rest of his extremities and how they have been affected throughout this process.
Nhan is stable now and is in a long-term care facility. He has a long road to recovery and isn’t talking much, but as anyone would guess, he has a smile on his face and is grateful for all the well-wishes and prayers he’s received along his journey.
All donations will go 100% to Nhan’s medical expenses and recovery process.
