We're writing to you with some difficult news: Our dear friend Sarah Barness has been diagnosed with breast cancer. While the cancer appears to not have spread, Sarah has a long and difficult road ahead of her.

Given the size of her tumor, she's likely going to need a unilateral or bilateral mastectomy. After that, she'll find out if she needs radiation and chemo. Ahead of potential chemo, she's freezing her eggs, which is an emotionally, physically and financially exhaustive process unto itself.

As if all of that wasn't hard enough, Sarah lost her job shortly before discovering the cancer.
