Help Honey Nguyen Heal and Recover from Her Heroic Act of Courage

Honey Nguyen, a 26-year-old loving and selfless home health aide, was recently involved in a devastating car accident while on her way home from a visit to a temple. Known in her community for her kindness, compassion, and dedication to helping others, Honey is the loving caregiver to hospice patients, supporting her disabled father, and providing for her family in the Philippines. Everyone who knows Honey speaks of her bright spirit and generous heart.

Her heroic act to save others

On the day of the accident, Honey was riding with two friends, Phi and Lovely, on the 57 freeway. Suddenly, Phi had a seizure while driving. Her foot got stuck on the accelerator causing the car to speed. Despite the chaos, Honey reacted instinctively—trying to hold onto Phi, reaching for the steering wheel, and unbuckling her seatbelt to take control. With quick thinking, she made a split-second decision to slam the car into the center divider to prevent the vehicle from hitting other cars and causing a worse tragedy. The car collided at the speed of 83mph. Thanks to her bravery and quick action, no other lives were lost or harmed that day.

Her injuries and current condition

Tragically, Honey and Lovely were badly injured. Honey suffered multiple broken ribs, a skull crack, and injuries to her kidneys and bladder. She has already undergone surgery and remains in the hospital under observation. Doctors say her recovery will take time—possibly up to a year—with several more weeks in the hospital.
