Please help the Columbus family win Adam's fight!

Life is precious. Please join us in helping the Columbus family through the most devastating time in their lives, as they find themselves in an unexpected medical crisis of astounding proportions.

Prior to August, 2021, when Adam found a mysterious lump in his neck, he was a healthy, active, ambitious 22-year old young man. He worked incredibly hard selling luxury patios and decks. In his free time, Adam loved engaging in home-improvement projects, driving his Ford Mustang, cooking, boating, fishing, investing and, most of all, hanging out with close family and friends- all activities young adults should be able to do at this exciting time in their lives.

Now, instead, Adam is fighting one of the rarest, most aggressive, life-threatening forms of Acute Lymphoblastic Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, requiring him to undergo one of the harshest and most extensive chemotherapy regimens out there. With his mom by his side every minute, Adam has undergone over 100 rounds of a dozen different types of chemotherapies, suffered harsh side effects, had multiple painful surgical biopsies and diagnostic procedures, been on over 15 medications, had numerous trips to the ER, and endured a month-long hospital stay.

As one might imagine, it’s been a mentally and physically brutal eight months, but Adam’s strong, positive, fighter mental attitude, supportive mother, brothers, extended family and friends, and brilliant doctors and nurses have helped him achieve temporary remission.

Unfortunately, in order to keep the aggressive cancer from returning, and to save his life, Adam now needs a high-risk bone marrow/stem-cell transplant, which will involve at least another one-month stay at the University of Chicago Hospital, up to several months stay at an apartment close to the hospital for intensive follow-up care, and multiple trips back and forth to University of Chicago Hospitals for two years.

Adam’s amazing, single mother, Lisa, has been Adam’s primary caregiver throughout every one of his treatments, all while overcoming her own challenging medical problems this winter, and caring for another family member who is still fighting to recover from a serious illness, after undergoing multiple surgeries over the past few months. It's simply been non-stop medical struggles lately for this once healthy family.

Lisa will continue to be by Adam’s side through his transplant and full recovery. Needless to say, Adam, and his loving, dedicated mother have been left without an income because they haven’t been able to work full-time since last summer, and won’t be able to return to work for at least the next several months.

The family’s expenses, including hospital bills, Dr.’s bills, medications, medical supplies, transportation, and other basic needs, have been exorbitant, and they are facing even more outrageous costs ahead with the upcoming transplant.  Adam and his family need your help to make Adam’s dream - to return to living a full, healthy life - come true!

The family is so appreciative to those of you who have helped in any way already, including sending meals and healing wishes. Everyone’s love and support is what helps keep them going every single day.  Please consider giving generously to help raise money that this hard-working, kind-hearted family needs, to help ease at least some of the financial burden this medical crisis has created.  Anyone who knows Lisa and her three amazing sons knows that they would be the first people in line to help any one of us.

On behalf of the Columbus family, Lisa's closest of friends thank you in advance for anything you can give to help them weather this incredibly difficult journey.
