Safer Roads

Hi, community:

I'm Artur, 46 years old and I have 2 young boys.

I am from Portugal living near Aveiro, the main production region for bicicles and its components. The terrein is quite flat, so it would be easy to see people using alternative ways to get to their jobs, but it isn't so.

Also, as children grow, they tend to be more independent, meaning that they take their bikes and scooters and go to school or other activities.

The problem as a parent is that we always feel unsafe, because of the traffic and people on the road. We know that they do not always comply with traffic rules but the may worry that we all have is with cars buses and trucks. They tend to disrespect bicycles and scooters. Most of us are drivers and we all have days when we are late for work, or school, etc. We all have days when our patience is delicate.

Therefore, we can be sympathetic with people driving, and mostly with those who do it professionally.

We all understand that sometimes accidents happen, but no one is prepared for a situation involving one of our children.

We had an idea. The idea is to create an environment where they can use their bikes and scooters and be safer.

To do so, it is necessary that drivers anticipate what the child is to do.

At the same time, parents can survey their path.

We have started already working by creating a raw functional prototype that we are testing on the road.

We need this money because we’ve been investing personally, but we understand that to be able to scale the product and making it available everywhere, we must make moulds.

Secondly, as it will be on the road, we shall need to homologate the product, and at the same time protect it by patent.

Lastly, to have tracking ability, we shall need an app.

For the app, we will try to licence an existing solution.

The funds will be insufficient for the whole solution, but will kick even further the idea and accelerate de development of the final solution.

We will refund people if there is no viability of the project.
