Many of you know Marita and may be aware that she has been ill over the past 18 months. As a result, her quality of life and ability to work has been affected.
It has been a lengthy journey to get diagnosis of what was affecting her health, however finally she has received a complex and multiple diagnosis which includes Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) and POTS. The illnesses she has been diagnosed with are both long term and life impacting. There were no specialists in Ireland to diagnose and treat the illness, meaning Marita has had to private consultants in the UKI for consultations, tests and treatment advice.
This is not covered by medical insurance or the Irish health systems so has to be funded by Marita and her family. Anyone who has had to seek private medical treatment abroad will know how expensive this is, especially with a rare illness.
The aim of this funding is to let friends and colleagues help Marita get the best possible treatment from the experts and contribute to some of the costs and ease the financial burden on Marita and her family.
All proceeds will go directly to Marita to help cover costs already incurred, tests and treatment.
