It is with great regret to report the unexpected passing of our friend, brother, and Air Traffic Controller Brandon Leavitt. Brandon, a Colorado native, grew up in the Denver area. After graduating high school, he served in the United States Marine Corps as an Air Traffic Controller at Beaufort Air Station. Following his honorable discharge, Brandon was hired with the FAA and moved back to his home state of Colorado.
Brandon invaluably served his FAA career at Aspen ATCT/TRACAB. He arrived in November 2014, where he joined NATCA and quickly became the facility representative from 2015-2016. During his time as facility representative, Brandon lobbied for controller’s rights and continued to be a strong advocate of NATCA and contributing member of the union after his time as representative. Brandon was a vital member of the ASE ATCT team, possessing a wealth of knowledge and experience leading to many controller certifications. Brandon was a great OJTI, mentor, and friend, impacting many controllers throughout his time at the facility.
Brandon enjoyed spending time with his family snowboarding, rock climbing, and was an experienced mechanic. He is survived by his wife Jessica, and his three children, Brianna (15), Richy (13), and MacKenzie (13). Brandon’s humor and ability to put a smile on everyone’s face will be greatly missed for all that knew him.
Please consider donating in an effort to help support the Leavitt family during this difficult time.
