Tori has cancer. Three words we hoped we would never have to hear or say about our extraordinary Tori, who is the youngest of 4 siblings, Sam's wife and Eddie and Isabel's exceptional mother.

In October last year, what seemed to be a straightforward appendectomy after a sudden bout of appendicitis, revealed an acute cancer. This was followed by a whirlwind of scans, tests, exploratory procedures and major surgery to remove a portion of Tori's colon. The cancer Tori has is particularly rare, especially in someone of her age. It's hard for doctors to provide her with concrete evidence of how this might impact the rest of her life. Tori's best chance of the cancer not returning is to undergo 6 months of chemotherapy, followed by further major surgery. The chemo entails a grueling 12 fortnightly infusions as well as a number of medications self-administered at home.

Tori has been told to 'write off this year to cancer treatment'. Not an easy task when you are a working professional with a five year old and a two year old. Tori has the strength, spirit and determination to overcome whatever challenges are in store for her. She has the love and care of innumerable family members. But what she really needs is Sam by her side on the bad days, of which there are likely to be many over the year. Your donation will provide Tori and Sam with financial security, and the flexibility for Sam to be with Tori and the kids during the ups and downs of this long treatment plan.
