Hi everyone! Our names are Matt and Sydney, and our friend Natasha is in need of our support.
Generous, kind, intelligent, and comedic are all words that describe our friend Natasha, a recent university graduate who majored in economics and political science. Natasha loves to help others, and she’s passionate about basketball and making others laugh. During her time as a student, she served as a member of student government and planned several university-wide events. Following graduation, she moved back home to Los Angeles, where she began working while preparing to apply to law schools.
On 7/28 after going to the hospital for yet another scan of her knee--this same knee had been causing her issues several times prior--Natasha was informed that she had a tumor. A biopsy later revealed that it was cancerous, and she was diagnosed with stage 3 synovial sarcoma, a rare and aggressive type of cancer. Due to the nature of the cancer, her doctors have recommended a treatment plan consisting of chemotherapy, followed by radiation and surgery. She has begun the first stage of this plan, currently undergoing her first round of chemotherapy at UCLA.
This life-saving treatment is very expensive. Natasha had to pay completely out of pocket for her consults, and will have to cover some of her medical bills for her treatments. This imposes a hardship on her and her mother, especially in the middle of a pandemic with no end in sight.
To help out with these medical costs, we are reaching out to friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers to raise money on Natasha’s behalf. Our goal is to reach $20,000 as soon as possible. Donations of any size are whole-heartedly appreciated. If you are looking for additional ways to help, please share our GoFundMe on all social media platforms and encourage people you know to donate. Additionally, GoFundMe charges a transaction fee of 2.9% plus $0.30 for every donation so if you want to ensure that Natasha gets the full amount of your donation, please consider adding a little extra on. To ensure that Natasha’s family will receive 100% of the funds raised through this GoFundMe, Sabina Allen (Natasha’s mother and primary bill handler) has been established as the sole beneficiary for this account, and thus is the only individual capable of withdrawing donated funds. 100% of this money will go towards reimbursing the out of pocket costs accrued from Natasha’s consultation appointments (all of which were paid 100% out of pocket), the costs of Natasha’s chemotherapy treatments & hospital bills accrued alongside these treatments that were not covered by insurance, the costs of Natasha’s radiation treatments that were not covered by insurance, and the cost of Natasha’s upcoming surgery that will not be covered by insurance. In the event that there are additional funds remaining after the aforementioned costs have been covered, these shall be given to Natasha to assist her in her recovery from surgery, as she will need to take time off of work and pay for rehabilitation therapies.
