Help us keep our house!

My wife and I have three kids, 5 and under, and we need to keep a roof over their heads. But we need some help while I find a new job, or we're going to start missing payments.

We got an amazing deal with financing for the house, such that we're paying less for the mortgage than we would pay for renting a smaller apartment. If we lose this house, we will never be able to find a deal this good again, and we'll be in even worse shape overall.

Beyond the obvious need for shelter, it has a particular emotional attachment for us, as our two youngest kids were born right here in the house. We've planned on living here for as long as we're able.

In January of this year, I lost my job. It was not through any fault of my own, but simply a matter of finances for my employer. Since then, I've been applying everywhere, but I still haven't had any luck landing a new full-time position.

My wife works part time, and I've been taking whatever freelance work I can find, but our savings are almost entirely depleted at this point. We are now at the place where we don't have enough in the bank to make the next mortgage payment.

I'm waiting to hear back from several promising job applications, and I'm constantly sending out more, but even if I got hired today, my first paycheck would not come through in time.

The $3000 goal listed would give us about an extra month's worth of our cost of living. Given the poor response so far to all the applications I've sent out, we may need more time than that, but it's a start.

It's really hard for me to ask this of all my friends, but we need your help. If you could even donate just $10, it would add up, and we would truly appreciate it. And if you're in a stable financial position yourself and could help out with something bigger, we would thank you all the more.
