Hey Family & Friends,

Some of you are already aware, and some of you may not be aware, but in October, Courtney was diagnosed with Leukemia. Leukemia is a type of blood cancer where cells have acquired mutations in their DNA that cause them to grow abnormally and lose functions of typical white blood cells. Your white blood cells are essential to your health so right now Courtney has no immune system.

Although the doctors have given her a good prognosis, Courtney has a long road to recovery. On November 6th, Courtney was admitted to UPenn as an inpatient, where she began her Chemo treatments. Last week, she finished her first round like a champ - she's incredibly strong and positive! This upcoming Tuesday, she will get a biopsy to see if the first round was effective (fingers crossed!). If it is, that means she will get to come home in about three weeks and continue treatment as an outpatient.

We are so blessed and fortunate to have family and friends that have been able to stay in the hospital with her and keep her spirits up. She truly has been so brave throughout this entire journey.

This past week, Courtney cut all of her hair off, as one of the side effects of Chemo is hair loss (she looks pretty awesome though - definitely showing 11 from Stranger Things vibes). Courtney wanted her hair to come off on her terms, rather than just fall out and so that it was still viable and could be donated. In doing research, I found an organization that works with cancer patients to create wigs from the patients' own hair. However, due to the custom fit and labor intensity of making each wig, it is rather expensive. I've created a Go Fund Me page, asking for friends and family to consider helping surprise Court with something that will help make her feel like herself again. All of the donations received will go directly to making Courtney a wig and any remaining donations will go toward medical expenses.

I will use this event page to keep everyone updated on Courtney's health. Please, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out to me! To preserve her privacy, please comment on this page or send her private messages (so that it's not on a public wall). Love you all! ♥
