As many of you know, Mom, turning 79 this April, just had open-heart surgery and has had many difficult complications during and since. She has a long journey back to getting and feeling healthy again. She is still in the ICU, but after she gets out, she'll need to go to rehab to continue getting stronger.

Her husband, Ron, a veteran with his own health challenges, travels back and forth every day to see her in Portland. His visits are vital to her recovery. Mom and her husband live on fixed incomes, and we all know how difficult finances are, especially for our seniors.

Medicare does not cover travel expenses or any other medical need they don’t deem necessary. Please consider giving any amount you can spare to help them out with travel and medical costs not covered.
