Hi everyone, my name is Nyah. I am a 23-year-old college student. I have had my dog Sadie since I was 16 years old. This past Thanksgiving, a family member gave my dog some turkey, and in that turkey was a bone. This bone has caused so much damage to my dog internally. If you know me, you know that I absolutely love my dog as if she were my own child, and I would never risk her health with food. I am angry, frustrated, and extremely scared because I don’t want to lose my dog, but surgery to help her without pet insurance is so expensive. Unfortunately, my parents never got pet insurance for my Sadie, and neither of them are willing to pay out-of-pocket to save her. Sadie is more than just a pet to me; she is my best friend and my safe place. She has been there for me through severe depression, anxiety, and dealing with PTSD. Sadie is full of love and deserves that love poured right back into her, and I wish I wasn’t so broke so I could just help her without worrying. She does not deserve to die early; she is only a 7-year-old beagle and still has so much life to live. I don’t know which one of my idiot family members did this, or I would ask them for help paying her bill instead. Honestly, any little bit of help to bring the cost down and not have my dad just outright tell me “no, we have to put her down” would be great.
