My Dad Needs Brain Surgery

My name is Lauren Poole and I am starting this gofundme to raise money for my father, Steve Poole, who was recently diagnosed with a Meningioma brain tumor in his frontal lobe. Throughout much of my life, my dad has been the supportive, humble and loving father that any child could ask for. He traveled the world doing his passion, playing the keyboard, and in 2012 would retire from his passion to spend more time with my mother, me, and my brother. My dad is truly one of the most humble, selfless men I've ever met in my life and anyone that knows him would say the same. He will do anything it takes to make sure his family is happy, healthy and has food on the table. He is someone that I look up to and hold dear to my heart.
On Friday May 22nd, 2020, my father suffered from a grand mal seizure at work, which lasted a long gruesome 10 minutes. My mother and father both work together and as my father laid on the ground seizing, my mother stood at his feet begging God to save his life. After being rushed to the hospital, the doctor's did every test imaginable. My mother was soon told that my dad has a 5.5cm Meningioma brain tumor that is in his frontal lobe and needed to be taken out as soon as possible. They believe this tumor is likely from his previous head trauma from his childhood. Due to the pandemic's harsh guests restrictions, my mother received this terrible news on her own. I can't imagine the fear my mother was feeling at the time she receive the news by herself. My family has learned to take this day by day and keep our spirits high after receiving this news. My father was released from the hospital 2 days later and was referred to a neurologist in Charlotte, NC. My father and mother both do not have insurance because of the very high rates quoted and their inability to pay for insurance due to their debt acquired from my college tuition. My father, being the humble man that he is, worries how we could possibly pay for all these medical bills that we will receive from this brain tumor.
My parents have both selflessly provided for their children and made sure that me and my brother were both able to go to college to provide ourselves with a better life one day. The debt they have acquired from our student loans and now new medical bills have put a lot of stress and sorrow onto my parents and family. I am now a senior at Lenoir-Rhyne University and my parents know that I will help them pay for medical bills and work as much as I need to in order to get my dad the medical care and surgery he needs. There is no price on my father's life, but I hope that this gofundme can help my parents to raise the money they need to pay for this surgery for my father.
We have met with the neurologist and they have informed us that there is a possibility that he may lose his eye sight because of the location of the brain tumor. The first medical bill they received from Gaston Memorial was $26,000 for just the two days he was there. An appointment will soon be made to discuss the cost of the surgery itself but it is estimated to possibly be any where from $50,000 - $80,000. His surgery is scheduled for June 24th. We will provide updates on specific medical bill amounts and update the goal amount if needed. We are thankful for anything that we may receive.
