I am Zoe's mother Kim and Zoe is our little miracle baby and a true gift from God. We have FAITH that she is going to make it despite what she's been through and the rough road ahead! When I found out I was pregnant I was so happy!!! I never thought that I would be faced with something like this! My pregnancy was perfect for the most part besides the morning sickness! I went to my doctor to have my 23 week ultrasound and we discovered that Zoe hadn't grown any in over a month and there was not much fluid in my placenta. Zoe was also half the size she should have been at that time. The medical team told me that Zoe was not considered viable. She was way to small and undeveloped. I was immediately admitted to the hospital that day with hopes that I could last as long as possible being pregnant but unfortunately, my body was so sick from Preeclampsia that I couldn't last long at all. My blood pressure was so high that I was at risk for stroke or death! Many women get Preeclampsia and have no idea and the only cure is to deliver the baby. Once admitted I was able to last 4 days until she was exactly 24 weeks gestation. My doctor had no choice but to deliver her at that point because my blood pressure was so high it put me in danger and also caused a lot of stress on her. It was very scary and they didn't give her much of a chance to live. When she was delivered it took awhile to get her heart beating and get the breathing tube in her so that she could breath. The Neonatologist gave her a 10% chance of survival but she is still here! Since the day she was born she's had A LOT of obstacles in her way. She has moved from the hospital that she was born in to a hospital that can care more for critical babies. She developed Chronic Lung Disease from the ventilator and a horrible disease called Necrotizing Enterocolitis that we are still battling along with other illnesses! Necrotizing Enterocolitis causes parts of the bowel to get infected and eventually some parts die and must be removed. She had surgery on her intestines to take out the bad parts and we are going thru a tough recovery stage. This whole experience was unexpected and has come with unexpected heartache and unexpected expenses for the family. You always envision how you want all of this stuff to play out and sometimes it doesn't happen that way! Zoe is a very strong little girl and we are asking for prayers that God will heal her and give her the strength to keep fighting!!!! We love her so much! She is our first child and grandchild! Please pray for my sweet Baby Zoe!!!
