Helen
ENGLISH VERSION:
My name is Helen, and I am writing this with a heavy but grateful heart as a daughter.
My father is 98 years old. He is my hero, my guide, and the foundation of our family. Recently, our family received devastating news: my dad has been diagnosed with stage 4 terminal cancer. The cancer has advanced significantly and has formed a growing mass in his stomach. He lives with constant daily pain—some days more intense than others—and he is also battling severe kidney issues, including cysts in his kidneys.
Due to his age and fragile condition, the doctors have shared that he is not a candidate for chemotherapy or surgery, as these treatments would likely do more harm than good. At this stage, we are focusing on keeping him as comfortable as possible and surrounding him with love as we trust God’s timing and will.
As painful as this journey is, we are trying to prepare ourselves for what lies ahead. This fundraiser has been created to help our family prepare for future funeral and memorial expenses, so when the time comes, we can honor my father with the dignity, peace, and respect he deserves—without the added burden of financial stress.
One of my father’s final wishes is to be laid to rest next to his wife, my mother, who passed before him. She is buried in Puerto Rico, and honoring this request would require transporting him there when the time comes. This is an additional and significant expense, but it would mean everything to us to reunite them and fulfill his last request.
Asking for help is not easy, but we are humbly reaching out for support during this difficult time. Any contribution, no matter the size, and even sharing this fundraiser, means more to us than words can express.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story, for your kindness, your prayers, and for standing with us during this emotional chapter of our lives.
With gratitude and love,
Helen
