My good friend and colleague Tanya Urick, Taos Mesa Brewing CFO and New Mexico Brewer’s Guild board member, was stricken with a rare and aggressive form of Multiple Sclerosis known as Marburg variant late in 2022. She was life-flighted twice: once in November to UNMH in Albuquerque and then again in December to Swedish Neurological unit in Denver, CO. The quick response by the attending Neurologists at Swedish medical center saved Tanya’s life. Tanya and her partner, Jayson (CEO and co-founder of Taos Mesa Brewing) spent 4 months in hospitals and rehab. Tanya is improving but she cannot walk without assistance and her vision and cognition are still impaired. She still has a long road to recovery. In the ensuing weeks and months, she must undergo several major surgeries. Owing to her illness, Tanya had to resign from Taos Mesa Brewing, and she lost her income. Both she and her partner Jayson need your help covering travel and medical expenses associated with Tanya’s illness. I am setting a goal of $60,000 to help Tanya and Jayson recoup medical and travel expenses, as well as help them offset the fact that their household income was cut in half when Tanya’s illness forced her to resign from Taos Mesa Brewing.
