Carter's Medical Bills
Donation protected
First off, I want to thank every single one of you for supporting Carter and our family through the time we spent in the hospital with him last summer. For those of you that don't know, Carter had emergency surgery to remove blood clots in his lungs last July. After the first surgery, removing a lot of the clots in his lungs, Carter didn't wake back up. A team from Legacy Emanual Hospital in Portland came down and performed another emergency surgery to hook Carter up to an ECMO life support machine, which is the most advanced form of life support known to medicine. He was on life support for the next 8 days and finally woke up on day 10. He spent a total of 28 days in Legacy facilities before he finally was able to come home.
Today, Carter is back to living a pretty normal life with very minimal lasting effects. He is working at Timberhill Place, an assisted living facility, and is planning to go back to school to enter the medical field. He feels blessed with the opportunity to have a second chance at life and wants to play his part in being able to contribute to providing others with that same second chance he was given.
Thankfully, Carter had insurance when all of this happened, but it is not covering all of his medical expenses. He has just started receiving his medical bills and so far they have added up to almost $5,000. This includes his procedure at Good Samaritan and a portion of his treatment at the Legacy Emanual facilities, but he has not received all of his medical bills yet.
This has created financial hardship for Carter and any generosity on your part is greatly appreciated. Thank you for all of your love and support for Carter throughout this journey; we are truly blessed to still have him here with us today!
