Save Our Synagogue

Tax deductible
Baytown Texas, located on the Texas Gulf Coast, is home to  Congregation K’Nesseth Israel, one of our state's oldest houses of worship still in use today.
Congregation K’Nesseth Israel or CKI, as we are so fondly called, received the distinct honor in 1992 of
being designated a recorded Texas Historic Landmark.
Located at the corner of Sterling and Commerce streets, CKI holds first Friday services each month, in
addition to services throughout the year marking Jewish holidays. CKI does not have a Rabbi; lay
members conduct all services.
Unfortunately, Hurricane Harvey left significant damage to our aged buildings, therefore our congregation
is in need of community support. An S.O.S. (Save Our Synagogue) campaign has been established. A “Go Fund Me” account has been set up to assist in our restoration of this historic treasure.
As we prepare for our 90 year anniversary celebration we are humbled and uplifted by the many calls we
are receiving. We are overwhelmed by the heartwarming stories and childhood memories of many who were impacted by CKI and its members, past and present.
Thank you for choosing to be a part of this endeavor to ensure that CKI is a presence in Baytown for
generations to come!
Read more about CKI and our situation in this Jewish Herald-Voice article. Thank you for your support!
