I recently adopted a beautiful stray husky mix from the shelter who was found stuck and pulled out of a Houston bayou with several other dogs.
A few weeks after I took her in, I'd been noticing that she was having difficulty running, playing, walking upstairs, and had low energy. Nezuko is only 1 and a half years old, so I knew this was odd behavior for her. I took her to the vet, and after several X-rays, I was told that Nezuko has severe hip dysplasia, arthritis, and hip luxation (both hip joints are dislocated about 2 inches above the sockets). This most likely happened by traumatic impact to her back, whether it was being hit by a car, being abused, or injuring herself falling into the bayou.
I was told by the vet that I should return her to the shelter or euthanize her because the only other option would be a very tedious surgery. Three veterinary opinions later, a board-certified surgeon who specializes in hip surgery recommended a total hip replacement for Nezuko. If she does not get this surgery, then she will never be able to live a normal life and will always be in pain and limited in her movement. I refuse to euthanize her or take her back to the shelter as I'm already in love with her and believe in giving her a chance.
Her surgery will cost me $20,000. I’m only asking for $3,000 here because in all honesty, anything will help, even if you can only give $10, we are forever grateful. I will come up with the rest of the funds on my own and am creating whatever avenues I can to raise any amount I can to add towards the overall cost. If you are moved to donate anything at all, thank you so much in advance. Nezuko and I appreciate you greatly ❤️
