Our mother, Neysa, was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Her initial surgery is January 4, during which they will be able to determine the extent of the cancer. What we know so far is that there are cells located in other parts of the body. Given how swift treatment is coming, she is in urgent need of funds to help pay for her medical and basic living expenses.
She has spend her whole life taking care of others, a mother of four, grandmother to 10, and incredible friend. Working as a massage therapist for over a decade, she has brought a healing hand and heart to so many. We pray that we can surround her with love, support, and care during this challenging time for her.
During her recovery, it's imperative that she rests as much as possible to ensure optimal healing, so she may be able to work again. Massage therapy is demanding on the body, so she will be off work longer than she desires to be, causing a financial hardship that is so difficult on top of the emotional and physical toll of battling cancer.
Her out of pocket deductibles are in the thousands and being out of work, leaves her without any income, as massage therapists are independent contractors, with no health or disability benefits. We want more than anything for her to kick cancer's butt, and we don't want to see her lose her apartment or job due to the financial and physical hardships in the journey ahead.
