A dear family (mother and 4 kids), has had a difficult journey over the last years, having to move to 2 different states to get space from a dangerous situation. They have now landed in a new State, and had a tragic experience with a scam landlord stealing money. Without savings they are living between the car and hotels they can't afford.
A community has come together over the last year to support them, and we cannot share enough gratitude for what that has meant!
Here are some words from the mother to express her preciation, and share where they are today:
Because of you, I was able to leave a harmful situation, find housing, and give my four children a place to call home. You gave us more than shelter — you gave us the chance to stop surviving and start building. I will always carry that with me.
This past year hasn’t been perfect, but it’s been powerful. We stayed in our home. My children were safe, fed, and growing through the school year. And I’ve been quietly rebuilding — inside and out.
I’ve had to face my fears, unlearn old ways of disappearing, and begin trusting life again. I’m showing up more — for my kids, our future, and myself. That shift is hard to describe, but I feel it every day.
Right now, I’m preparing for the next step. I’ve been exploring new work opportunities and continue seeking steady work, learning new skills, and doing everything possible to build something long-term. This summer, while the kids are with relatives, I’m using the quiet to focus on laying a stronger foundation for stability and momentum.
We’re still working through some real challenges — steady transportation, school expenses, and the daily costs of keeping a home running. But I’m not standing still. I’m taking action every day to move us forward. I am excited to be exploring some new work.
It would mean a great deal if you’re able to contribute again — or even share our story. You helped us stand on solid ground. Now, I’m asking for your support as we take the next steps — to survive and grow.
With heartfelt thanks,
Thank you for your generosity and support!
